2011-04-11 - 12:38 p.m. I'm going to call it the "Target rule"-- sometimes when you choose to shop at a place that overall has inexpensive items, you can justify not spending too much time doing comparison shopping to find the very best price. Like if Target has a slightly higher priced pan than some other places, but overall Target's prices are better, then just going to Target is worth it because you are saving the time/energy that comparison shopping requires. And now for the reason why I'm mentioning this: The Target Rule does not apply to eating at restaurants. No matter how healthy the restaurant tries to be overall, it's pretty much guaranteed that over half their menu has a lot of fat and calories. I just had lunch at Panera and ordered a turkey sandwich-- because Panera tries to be somewhat healthy right? And turkey is good for you right? Um, wrong. 25 points plus-- that's nearly the whole day in one sitting. Of course I was full after eating 2/3 of it. I should have stopped or even eaten only half. In fact if I had eaten only half, I could have eaten the potato chips and not consumed as many points as eating the whole sandwich.... Well, that's what the extra weekly points are for. And free fruit!! Maybe I'll be eating bananas for dinner tonight :) In other news, the weight loss effort is going very slowly. I think I've lost about 1.5 lbs in the 2+ months I've been back on the plan. But dude, at least I'm not gaining weight. And duddetty dude, SPRING is here! I'm starting to bike again and ultimate frisbee season started. Of course that means terrace season-- i.e. beer drinking season-- has started as well. We'll see how this goes...
